FILIP ŠVEHLA
Filip Švehla (b. 1991) is a visual artist whose work employs a formalistic approach toward painting. He graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht. His focus is on the exploration of colours in relation to urban space, architecture, and living space in general. He is represented with London based gallery AucArt or Think+feel Contemporary in Miami and exhibits regulary in Czechia and abroad.
BÁRA PRÁŠILOVÁ
Bára Prášilová is a Prague-based artist known for her surreal, meticulously crafted images that blur the line between reality and fiction, reflecting her unique sense of absurdity. Her work, featured in exhibitions across Paris, Vienna, and the UAE, begins with detailed sketches and custom-made props, giving her photographs an authentic, otherworldly quality. She has received numerous accolades, including the Hasselblad Masters Award and the Clio Award, and her art is part of both private collections and the permanent collection of the Moravian Gallery in the Czech Republic.
Recently, Prášilová has expanded her artistic practice into moving images, creating videos that further explore her imaginative worlds. Her latest book Circles (2022), co-authored with Thomas Beachdel, PhD, showcases her ability to build new realities through her carefully constructed visual narratives.
Photographer Bára Prášilová and painter Francis de Nim (František Matoušek) will be exhibiting alongside local artists at the pop-up show during UPAW. Pavel and Bára Liškovi will contribute a video installation in the former 1965 hangar space.
The artistic collective Die Früchte, which includes Veronika Šrek Bromová and Hanele Poislová, with guest artist Jan Cina and music by experimental artist Ondřej Skala, will present an art performance titled JUICY BLUE. Die Früchte’s performances are known for their intuitive, spontaneous nature, shaped by the environment and context. In this case, the performance draws inspiration from their collaboration with Petra Gupta Valentová and her blueprint textiles, as well as the atmosphere of the hangar and the Hudson Valley landscape. Veronika Šrek Bromová, Hanele Poislová, and Jan Cina participated in the creation of these fabrics, which feature handmade stamps, brush strokes, and body impressions. The blue color used in the work symbolizes healing, regeneration, and the elements of heaven and water. The mysterious paint has deep roots, sometimes even toxic qualities.

JUL 18 - 21 , 2024
Pavel Liška, also known as Lishown or Lišák (Fox), is an artist and designer based in the Czech Republic, who has spent over ten years navigating both the cultural and commercial sectors. With a diverse background, he specializes in creating interactive objects and environments, as well as stage designs for both real and virtual realms. Drawing on childhood experiences, including a passion for analog creativity and a determination to excel in digital mediums, Pavel's artistic journey has been shaped by early illness and a desire to transcend stereotypes in manufacturing. After a brief stint as an electrical engineer, he returned to his artistic roots by studying at the Pilsen Faculty of Design and Art (Sutnarka), where he explored children's comics, illustration, and interactive media.
Throughout his career, Pavel has combined his academic knowledge with hands-on experience, contributing to various projects, including exhibitions for the National Technical Museum and interactive escape games. His freelance work has flourished post-2019, leading him to create innovative experiences like the outdoor game Industrial Trail and stage designs for cultural events. Recently, he has become captivated by light and projection, working on significant installations such as the site-specific piece Cerebri Tree for the BLIK BLIK light festival in 2023. With a rich portfolio that reflects his unique perspective as both a lone wolf and a collaborative team player, Pavel continues to engage in creative endeavors that push the boundaries of art and design.
